Thank you for this, Rebecca. While I have known about Plantiga's argument, I could never quite follow Lewis on reason and the supernatural until now. This is the clearest and most thorough treatment of the argument I have ever seen. Brilliant.

Great article! One of the Christians I interviewed while investigating theism decades ago asked me 'the' question that led me to make a decision to believe in God. He asked me - is there any 'reason' why I shouldn't believe in God and the death and resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ. The ability to reason was why I became an atheist in college, but months of investigating theism showed me that the basis of my reasoning was flawed. Once my questions were answered to my satisfaction, it be became clear that there was no 'reason' not to believe in God and in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
