It made me think of the first sin in the garden, the serpent deceives Eve and tells her she will be like God knowing good and evil. She was tempted to not trust God and then try and attain that for herself.

Secondly it’s interesting they strive for utopia and like you mentioned that only comes if every person is truly transformed. Ironically the very God they hate is making all things new and transforming hearts. The new heaven and new earth would be that very utopia they strive for minus them being in charge. But that’s the very thing that makes it work, Gods in control and ruling, He does the transforming.

I just saw Tim Francis and his lectures on miracles at our church including the Stigmata. Outstanding article as always. Read the book ‘Is Atheism Dead’ by Eric Metaxas….fascinating!

Thank you for this excellent article. Reminds me of R.C. Sproul's book "Consequences of Ideas" and other teaching he did on philosophy. The ancient sin of pride has manifested itself in many ways over the millennia since Genisis 3. At its core, atheism is the ultimate expression of human pride. Thanks be to God for a risen Saviour who delivers us in spite of it.
